A professor asked us to make a mini-editorial about being naughty and nice in any sense. Here is mine. (It was supposed to contain 5 sentences only, but I just added a little.)
With the world moving so fast-paced and our society aiming for achievement and excellence, the Filipino tends to get even naughtier these days. He feels like he is in a huge arena competing with millions of gladiators for the most coveted title of being the strongest and greatest of them all. It is brought by the strong sense of individualism in which he thinks of only his welfare. Or maybe, no offense meant, selfishness. What if he fails? He just falls, breaks away from the competent crowd, and feels so helpless. Big-time. It is time now that we shall revive and restore the Filipino values we so treasure, be nice to our fellows and help one another achieve something, muster all our individual efforts, and never pull each other down. It is okay being individualistic and naughty sometimes for being such will somehow help us in our pursuit of survival, but being nice to others will still, and will always, make an optimistic difference.
